Breaking News: Bloodbath In Plateau As 27 Persons Are Killed In Another Fresh Attack On Monday In Bassa Village

At least no fewer than 27 persons have been killed in a fresh onslaught in Nkiedonwhro, Irigwe chiefdom of Plateau State’s Bassa LGA.

An eyewitness who told this medium that the community alleged that the killings may be linked to the to the security apparatus because they warned them to stay inside that they will protect them and their properties.

In a phone interview a youth leader from the area, Mr. Zongo said one of the surviving victims revealed that soldiers came to them and told them to go inside their houses,  a few seconds later there were sporadic gunshots and burning of their houses.

According to him, he alleged that the attack may have been carried out by suspected Fulani happened in the early hours of Monday.

He, however, condemned that the attack as he said the latest attack is about the 3rd in a series of attacks that have happened in the LGA since the state government imposed a curfew, and in spite of the curfew people are brutally murdered in the presence of security personnel deployed to manned security in the area.

Zongo said, in the midst of government imposing a curfew, our people are killed.

It had on Sunday released a statement saying the attackers were hiding among the locals.

In the statement signed by its Director, Press and Public Affairs to Governor Lalong Emmanuel Nanle said the government has vowed to fish out the attackers.

The latest incident, therefore, poses a fresh challenge for the government in its quest to rid the state of violent attacks.

As at the time of filing this report, no official statement had been received on the incident in Nkiedonwhro.
