Reports reaching universalreporters247.com indicates that there is palpable tension, commotion and fear in Misau Emirate following the appointment of the former Secretary to Bauchi State Government as the new Emir of Misau.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in charge of Political Affairs, Government House, Bauchi, Malam Hashimu Yakubu stated that and issued to the newsmen; “Following the death of the 10th Emir of Misau, Alhaji Muhammadu Manga III on Monday, 17th Aug. 2015, and pursuant to the powers conferred on him by section 3 (i) of the Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) Law, His Excellency, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman as the 11th Emir of Misau,” the statement said.
According to the Statement also stated that Suleiman who is a Member of the National Institute (mni) , who has held the position of Secretary to Bauchi State Government twice, was born on April 1, 1950, and had held other various positions in the past.
Some of them include Principal Private Secretary to Bauchi State Governor (1980 to 1983) and Permanent Secretary in charge of various ministries and agencies (1984 to 1996).
He was appointed Secretary to the State Government and Head of Service (1996 to 1999), after which he retired from the service.
On 3rd July 2015, he was appointed Secretary to the State Government for the second time, a position he held until his emergence as the 11th Emir of Misau.
Meanwhile, this medium gathered that the statement by the Bauchi State Government didn’t go down well with the people of Misau Emirate.
According to an eyewitness, who spoke to this medium, said; “As soon as the announcement was made that the former SSG has been made the new Emir of Misau, all hell was let loose.”
Their grouse, this medium learnt is that the eldest son of the Late Emir, Ahmed Mohammed is supposed to be the new Emir, and that the appointment of Suleiman as the new Emir has political undertones and connotation to it.
“ As am talking to you, three cars in the convoy of the new Emir were burnt by irate youths, they said that the appointment didn’t follow the norms, values and tradition of the Emirate Council, the witness said.
“According to a source at the Emirate Council, who spoke to this medium stated that smokes are seen coming out from some parts of the Palace of the Emir of Misau, as I talk to you, but I cannot verify if actually the palace is affected.”
Universalreporters247.com learnt that security operatives has been quiet since the incident happened this afternoon as this medium gathered from sources within the Government House that, the security operatives are not happy with the Bauchi Governor owning to the fact that he refused to adhere to security reports over the Misau Emir appointment. He was pre-empted on the need not to appoint the former SSG as the New Emir as the whole Emirate especially Youths have warned over appointing the SSG as the new Emir.
As at this moment, the Bauchi the State Police Command has not issued any statement on the issue.
