Breaking: INEC Postponed Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has postponed the February 14thand 28th General election. INEC Chairman, Professor, Attahiru Jega while addressing the Press after a long meeting he held with State Electoral Commissioners as well as Resident Electoral Commissioners.

Earlier before the Press conference, Professor Jega had hold a meeting with Civil Society groups, stakeholders and the 26 political parties represented.

It was learnt that during the meeting 16 political parties were for the postponement while 10 were against the postponement.

The election will now hold on March 28th for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections and governorship and State Assemblies election will hold on April 11th 2015.

According to Jega, he said the need for the election postponement is to accommodate security advise.
