The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested a former Adamawa Senator, Grace Folashade Bent in Abuja, universalreporters27.com has learnt.
Universalreporters247.com findings reveal that Senator Bent was arrested at her house in Abuja by EFCC operatives yesterday; the former Senator this medium gathered was detained at the EFCC headquarters and at this time of filing of this report this morning, she is still at the EFCC’s headquarters where she is answering questions over fraud related matters.
Senator Grace after her election in 2007 became chair of the Senate Committee on Environment, universalreporters247.com gathered that her arrest may not be unconnected with an alleged fraud on ecological funds while she held sway as Senate Committee Chairman on Environment.
It would be recalled that in her role as Senate Committee Chairman on Environment, she was entangled in controversy over an extension of permission for gas flaring granted to oil companies by late President Umaru Yar’Adua without consultation with the Senate.
As at the time filling in this report, details of her offense are still sketchy, but efforts are being made by this medium to get more details of her arrest by the EFCC.
