Breaking: Court Finds Ex-Plateau Governor, Joshua Dariye Guilty Over Misappropriation of Ecological Funds

A Federal High Court sitting in Gudu, Abuja has found Joshua Dariye, ex-Plateau governor guilty of misappropriating N1.16 billion Ecological Fund meant for the state.

Justice Banjoko of the FCT High Court has also found Senator Joshua Dariye guilty of criminal breach of trust as regards N250 million issued to Pinnacle Communications emanating from the state’s Ecological Fund.

The Ex-Governor is standing trial on a 23 count charge for money laundering allegedly diverting the State’s 1.126 billion Naira ecological funds.

It would be recalled that Dariye was arraigned by the EFCC on July 13, 2007, on charges  bordering on money laundering and other corruption charges alleged to have belonged to the Plateau State Government.

According to the EFCC, the former governor diverted the funds into the account of Ebenezer Ratnen Venture, which is alleged to be one of the companies through which he allegedly siphoned the public funds.

Court proceedings still ongoing.
