The near celebration of the death of the mother of former Lagos State Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji who died about three weeks ago has gone, however, the echo is still very much around.
Buried a day after her demise, the Late Iyaloja-General of Nigeria’s funeral also had in attendance A-list Muslim clerics across Lagos State and beyond apart from political party leaders. Two fidau prayers were organized for the repose of her soul. But all that is not news.
What is news is that during the first fidau prayer, which also took place at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos three days after her death and organized by Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave the Imams a whopping N7 million gift.
Sources said that the money first developed wings and could not be found for about two hours. Eventually when it was traced to a popular cleric in Lagos Island (name withheld) the sharing formulae became a very serious issue between them, even till date.
