Following the prolong and unabated hostilities between the Berom and the Fulani Communities in Wase , Baraki Ladi, Riyom and Jos south local government area in particular, a 15 man committee has been constituted by the plateau state government.
The committee was set up to examine the causes of the conflicts or crisis between the Beroms and the Fulanis as submitted by both ethnic groups and to come up with modalities for a peaceful resolution of the crises.
They is to make appropriate recommendation to the government for a lasting peaceful coexistence between the two ethnic groups in Jos North, Jos South, Riyom and Barki Ladi local government areas.
The committee is also expected to make any other useful recommendation that will lead to a peaceful coexistence between all the ethnic groups in the northern senatorial zone of plateau state.
They have one mouth to complete the assignment and submit it report.
This medium reports that with the prolonged crises several people has been killed, wanton destruction of property, displacement of hundreds of people and has affected economic activities in the communities.
Investigation revealed that, people in these communities no longer feel free to undertake their social and economic activities due to the incessant attacks and counter attacks.
The committee was inaugurated by the SSG, Hon.Rufus D Bature, said the peace and security of its people can no longer be compromised, adding that, the five point policy thrust ,top most of which is peace, security and good governance, which government is determined to do all it takes to restore peace and harmony not only the Beroms and Fulanis but throughout the entire state.
The committee members is headed by the Former SSG NDE John Gobak, which the members include, Da Iliya Dashwei, Engr. Sam Gyang Audu, Prof.Dung Gwom,Da J. D. Haruna,Mr. Choji Chuwang, Arch. Pam Dung Gyang, and Rev. Dauda Choji.
Others include Ardo Muhammud Adams,Ardo Idris Gidado, Ardo Abubakar Abdullahi, Alh. Usman Sidi,Mal. Aliyu Sailhu Momale, Ustas Usman Yakubu,Muhammad Nuru Abdullahi, and Mr. Habila G. Dung PS (CSS) who is the secretary of the committee.
