Bello Kirfi Strong Atiku’s Ally Removed As Wazirin Bauchi By Emir Of Bauchi Over Disloyalty To Governor Bala Mohammed
In what seems like a proxy war, the Emir of Bauchi Rilwanu Adamu has approved the removal of Bello Kirfi as Wazirin Bauchi and council member of the emirate.
As learnt by Universal Reporters Bello Kirfi is a strong political ally of Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Candidate ahead of the February 2023 General election.
Universal Reporters findings indicate that Kirfi has been in a state of quarrelsome disagreement with governor Bala Mohammed for supporting the ex-vice president during the party’s convention.
In the letter dated January 3 and signed by the council secretary, Shehu Muhammad, the Bauchi Emirate Council stated that the Ministry of Local Government Affairs directed for his removal for being disloyal to the governor.
“I am directed to refer to a letter received from the Ministry of Local Government Affairs of reference No: MLG/LG/S/72/T dated 30 December 2022.
“The content of the said letter indicated your disloyalty and disrespect to the Executive Governor of the State and the government. It is therefore directed for your removal with immediate effect.
“In view of the above, you are hereby removed from office as Wazirin Bauchi and also as a Council Member of Bauchi Emirate. I wish you the best in all your future endeavours,” the letter stated.
Already, the governor had in a November 3, 2022 letter which he sent to the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyochia Ayu accused Atiku Abubakar of working with some persons he called “Bala Must go” advocates in the state all in a bid to work against his emergence for a second term as Bauchi State Governor.

Pundits in the state believe that if the Governor doesn’t tread carefully, he will end up making the same mistake his predecessor, Mohammed Abubakar, made as governor. This medium learnt that the removed Waziri who was a Minister of Special Duties during the regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo is a politician with decades of experience with vast and widespread networks cum party-political alliances who even backed and supported the emergence of the Governor in 2019.
Sources informed this medium that, already, the governor is said to be at war with the “Bala Must Go” group which is alleged to comprise the likes of former Governor Adamu Muazu, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and also the Waziri, Bello Kirfi.
As it is , the removal of Bello Kirfi may spell more crisis for Bala Mohammed, if the PDP leaders and Elders in the state decide to withdraw their support from him, if his problems with Atiku continue unabated, with the Dogara Angle that is yet to be resolved.
However, feelers believe that Bello Kirfi’s group and alliances will fight back, as they will not sit down and watch things go that way.
Already, it is not known if Waziri’s daughter who is a commissioner in Governor Bala’s cabinet will resign from her appointment, while it is not known if the elders within his locality and LGA and youths who sees him as a role model will support him and withdraw their support from the governor, ahead the governorship election.
It would be recalled that Bello Kirfi was suspended in March 2017 during Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar’s administration in a statement signed by the Information officer of the emirate council, Alhaji Salmanu Yakubu Lame.
However, on August 2020, Governor Bala reinstated the embattled Waziri by presenting a letter of reinstatement. Before that development, Mr Kirfi was under suspension for almost three years.
