Born on January 1, 1978, in Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria. Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo obtained his Bachelor’s degree in French, Master of Arts, PhD in French Linguistics, and another PhD in Higher Education all in France. His dual Professorship made him be Professor of Modern European Languages as well as a Professor of Leadership respectively.
He established his first University in Niger Republic in 2013 in his late 20s as the first bilingual university and largest Private University in Sub-Saharan Africa. The University was named the Maryam Abacha American University of Niger (MAAUN) Maradi. It was honoured to immortalize the former first lady of Nigeria Hajiya Maryam Sani Abacha.

In his words Professor Gwarzo, said; “My dream in life is to make a difference in the life of others. I believe this can be achieved by providing people with a high-quality and sound education. This prompted my thinking of how I can make education accessible and affordable to our teaming youths.”
These are the words of Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, and these he has shown very well in his philanthropic gesture. To say the least, one can say Professor Gwarzo is a man with heart of Gold.
Currently, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, is the President of the African Association of Private Universities. This was due to his commitment, dedication, and determination in promoting education across the continent.
From 2013 till date under Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, Maryam Abacha American University Niger Republic has graduated over 8500 students, among those numbers, about 40 to 45 percent of them were trained through scholarships which was facilitated and given by the President and founder of Maryam Abacha American University Niger Republic in the person of Professor Gwarzo.
This selfless service by this ebullient personality, Professor Gwazo is not based on where you come from, or your religion, but based on humane reasons to those students who are eager for education but have no one to sponsor or train them.
Speaking with a pioneer graduate of the University, he said Professor Gwarzo has shown more selfless services, even to the point of giving free buses to convey students during holidays from Maradi to Katsina, to Kano, to Kaduna, to Lagos.

Aside from this, among pioneer graduates, about 35 to 40 percent of them have been employed by Professor Gwarzo to work in the University, thereby creating employment, while many others he has helped to secure employment in many different organisations and establishments which include both public and private organisations.
At the last count, Abacha American University Niger Republic and Abacha American University Kano Nigeria have more than 13,000 students comprising undergraduates and graduates, surprisingly among these numbers, about 3,500 students are studying under scholarships provided by Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo due to his love and desire for all to have access to education irrespective of where you are coming from or your religion.
Aside, from offering scholarships, his gesture which is philanthropic in nature covers and cuts across the board, such as community development, Humanitarian, and others.

Within the states of Kano, Kaduna, and Katsina, many persons, and communities have also benefited from his help to them getting financial assistance to continue their farming, he has also drilled more than 250 boreholes in a bid to tackle water shortages and supplies. He has also donated 20 transformers in the states of Kano, Kaduna, and Katsina.
In terms of health, many primary healthcare centers and Maternities have been renovated, while many new ones have been built all by him within Kano and Katsina states.
