Bauchi Police Arrests Three Suspects Over Killing Of ATBU 200 Level Student

The Police in Bauchi have arrested three more suspects in connection with the killing of a 200 level student of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi and recovered a pistol and a broken bottle.

The Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bauchi State Police Command, Mahmood Mohammed, disclosed this to newsmen in Bauchi

He said that the arrest of the three suspects brings the number of suspects arrested so far to four.

The 200 Level Student of the Mechanical Production Engineering Department of the Institution, identified as Yusuf Musa, who was hit with a stick and stabbed to death last Wednesday night during a fight, which was reportedly triggered by a misunderstanding between him and a fellow student three weeks earlier along a road.

The deceased, who was supposed to take his final examination of first semester, was said to have been embroiled in a war of words with a 500-level student of the school’s Geology Department, whose name was given as Dauda.

The Command’s Spokesman, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), disclosed that the suspects so far arrested are David Yohanna, an NCE Graduate of College of Education, Azare, Katagum LGA of Bauchi State; Godiya Yakubu, aka, Augustus Kalanu, an Electrical Artisan; Yahaya Danladi, aka, Y-Man, a graduate of Sodid University, Ghana and John Simon, younger brother to the Prime suspect.

“They were arrested because they were at the scene of the incident and they are friends of the prime suspect who is still at large.

“We recovered a pistol and a broken bottle as exhibits from them.

“It is believed that the two groups (the deceased’s group and the prime suspect’s group) are cult members,” Mohammed stated.

He further said that the suspects arrested took the deceased to Yelwa Clinic for treatment without reporting the incident to the Police adding that the Police got wind of the crime at about 7.30pm.

The Police Spokesman told newsmen that other suspects, including the Prime suspect, still at large are still being trailed by the Police with the aim of arresting them and brought to justice.
