The Programme Manager of a Non-Governmental Organization based in Bauchi, Community Initiative for the Promotion of Health and Education Sectors, CIPRHES, Malam Inuwa Yakubu Dodo, gave the assurance today at the opening ceremony of a five Day step down training on Male Engagement on Maternal and Neonatal Child Health at Katagum Local Government Area of the State.
Malam Inuwa Dodo said the project Which was funded by Global Affairs Canada, through Plan International and implemented by CIPRHES in Katagum was consolidating its efforts by training members of the male champions.
The Programme Manager who recalled that Global Affairs Canada had released huge amount of money for the BORN project called on the participants to pay maximum attention in order to understand the components of the training.
According to him, the training was meant to equip the participants on the current strategies on male engagement to support Maternal and Neonatal Child Health as well as Gender issues in the society.
He said Men have active role to play in protecting and promoting the Health and Well-being of their families.
He added that, as Male Champions, the Participants were expected to make good use of the knowledge acquired by strengthening Health care services in their respective communities.
Some of the participants who spoke at the workshop thanked Plan International for the gesture and urged government to downsize the cost of health care services and provide more access to health facilities among rural dwellers.
They also identify lack of awareness and poverty as some of the major factors responsible for the inability of women especially at the grassroots level to patronize health centres in the LGA.
The participants also thanked CIPRHES for its resilience in conducting regular training to all the categories of the volunteers in order to bolster their work.
