Bauchi Govt To Sign MOU With SON For Standardization Of Products

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State says his administration will look at the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding of the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) to ensure the production of standard quality.

 

The governor announced this when the Director-General of the Organization of Nigeria (SON), Faruk Salim visited him at the Council Chamber, Government House, Bauchi.

 

Governor Bala Mohammed hoped that working with the Organization of Nigeria (SON) will enable farmers in the state to have access to quality and standard products to enable them to produce more that will be exported.

 

The governor also described the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) as critical and key to take the country to the next level of development by addressing unemployment and poverty among its populace.

 

“We are highly delighted on behalf of the Government and people of Bauchi state to receive you on this premium visit which will usher in a lot of benefits for the people of Bauchi State and the northeast as a gateway.”

 

“I must congratulate you on your well-deserved appointment as the new DG of SON and I appreciate your visit which is deepening monitoring and evaluation to achieve the desired objectives.”

 

He observed that to tackle poverty and unemployment in the northeast sub region, there is a need for the organized private sector in Bauchi as well as in the northeast to leverage on the activities of the organization.

 

Governor Bala Mohammed, therefore, said the state government is working with the federal government, especially in the social investment programmes to minimize the level of poverty in the state.

 

On his part, the Director-General of Standards Organization of Nigeria, Faruk Salim appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for providing land for the construction of the Bauchi office of the organization.

 

“Your Excellency, we are here to thank you for assisting us with land to construct our Bauchi office. And we are happy that you surprise us with the operational vehicle.”
