Bauchi Federal Constituents Debunk Insinuations Against Prof. Bogoro Over His Appointment As Executive Secretary, TET Fund By Masoyi Lusa, Bauchi
People of Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro federal constituency in Bauchi state have debunked the insinuations against Professor Suleiman Bogoro over his appointment as the Executive Secretary of TET Fund by the federal government.
The people represented by delegations from the three local government areas that comprised the federal constituency wondered how some disgruntled elements within them cast campaign of calumnies against the TET Fund Executive Secretary, Professor Suleiman Bogoro.
The antagonists were said to have specifically booed Professor Bogoro’s efforts that facilitated the establishment of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Bogoro, saying the area is too remote to contain educational institution of such nature.
Delegations of three local government areas led by Ustaz Suleiman Adam, Isah Suleiman, and Yusuf Adamu said at a joint press briefing in Tafawa Balewa yesterday that the adversaries were jealous of the appointment afforded Professor Suleiman Bogoro by the Presidency.
The delegations under the umbrella of the ‘Association of Patriots for the Advancement of Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro’ noted that the antagonists’ act is a disservice to their people and Nigerians generally as NOUN in Bogoro could benefit people not only in Bauchi but also neighboring states.
The group led by Ustaz Suleiman Adam from Dass and Alhaji Sani Musa(organiser of the forum) the spokesmen of the organisation in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro said such criticisms on Professor Bogoro could not only dispossessed his appointment but also put a halt to the establishment of NOUN in Bogoro now at advanced stage of take-off.
The delegates recalled that Professor Suleiman Bogoro was a predecessor to a Bauchi state indigene as scribe of the TET Fund but whose appointment had not been felt by people in his local government area, talk less the state or Nigeria unlike Bogoro who is being hailed by all and sundry.
The spokesmen therefore warned the antagonists against utterances to usurp the appointment of Professor Suleiman Bogoro which, they argued, is a monumental loss to the federal constituency and Bauchi state in particular.
They also noted the socio-economic revolution of Professor Suleiman Bogoro right from his days with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi as lecturer that culminated to the sponsorship of scholarship to students, assistance of educationally retarded institutions, provision of boreholes, and economic empowerment of youth and women, among others.
The delegates representing majority of the people in the federal constituency counselled the Presidency to which the antagonists wrote discrediting letter against Professor Bogoro to be wary of such retrogressive elements whose occupation is to retard wheels of progress.
They also want people in Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro federal constituency to enlist such elements in their black book, and curve them out from any programme or event designed to advance the cause of the down-trodden.
