The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) of the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi branch has disbursed the sum of three million Naira to three deceased family members.
The chairman of the Association Comrade Dahiru Musa while disbursing the funds at the school premises on Wednesday said that the gesture was meant to ameliorate the economic hardship being faced by the beneficiaries.
Comrade Dahiru who said that the Association had recently carried out a similar gesture to ten families of deceased colleagues hopes that the beneficiaries will make good use of the funds.
In his speech, the rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Alhaji Adamu Sai’du thanked the leadership of the union for extending such a gesture to their deceased colleagues, the rector who was represented by his Deputy Dr. Andulmajid Jamal Abubakar urged the extended family members of the beneficiaries not to consider the token as part of the inheritance, but a support to the immediate families of the deceased.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries Mr. Ezekiel Daniel Folmi thanked the Union for the good gesture according to him the gesture will no doubt help them in so many ways, most especially with the current economic hardship in the country.
Universal Reporters gathered that the deceased persons whose family members benefited from the gesture include Mrs. Priscilla Daniel Folmi of the department of Office Technology Management, Malam Yusuf Tilde of the department of Library and Information Science, and Tajudeen Garba of the department of Maths and Statistics.
