Bandits have killed one person and robbed some cattle traders of N12 million in Sabon Birni local government area in Sokoto state.
A source said the incident happened on Monday, when the assailants blocked Shinkafi-Sabon Birni road.
The traders were said to have been coming from Yarbulutu village market to buy cattle from Shinkafi local government in Zamfara state.
“They blocked their way and robbed them. They collected the sum of N12 million from them,” the source said.
The special adviser on security to the Chairman of Sabon Birni, Lamiru Umar, said some of the traders were still in Sabon Birnin as they were afraid to return to their village.
He said the bandits had killed the village head of Magira around 12:30am last Tuesday.
