A group of bandits suspected to be Fulani militia invaded Pushit in Plateau and abducted the District Head of Pushit, Da Chief Dikyet Gupiya on Thursday 24 February, 2022 at about 9am.
Information available to this medium learned that the gunmen broke into the residence of the traditional ruler and met him in the sitting room watching news.
Its was gathered that the bandits started sporadic shooting into the air to scare away the residents of Pushit before embarking on their mission, as they whisked the man to unknown destination.
Our correspondent gathered that the family of the traditional ruler have not heard any communication from the kidnappers and they were said to have subsequently taken him to an unknown destination.
However ,at the time of filing in this report no demand is said to have been made by the abductors as his whereabouts is still unknown .
Efforts to get information from the Police Public Relations Officer, Plateau State Command, Mr. Gabriel Ubah on the issue, proved abortive as he did not pick our phone calls nor responded to our text messages.
However, in response to our phone call, the STF spokesperson, Major Ishaku Takwa said he hasn’t received any information regarding the abduction.
Recall that this abduction is the third in about three months that traditional rulers in the state were abducted.
The Paramount ruler of Pyem Chiefdom in Mangu LGA, HRH Charles Mato Dakat was abducted in December, 2021 while the District Head of Vom, Jos South LGA, HRH Da Gyang Balat was abducted early January 2022.
