Maulud celebration in Bamaina Jigawa State is year by year  becoming more colourful, more special, more interesting and an event that everybody should not afford to miss.

This year’s maulud took place on Sunday 18th and Monday 19th December 2016 in a grandeur style like never before.

Two days to the event, the town was decorated with flags, animations, lighting instruments and other decors, light illuminated all over the sky which added beauty to the beautiful nature and landscape  of Bamaina which is the hometown to the  former governor of Jigawa State and Nigeria’s political leader Alh Dr Sule Lamido.

I arrived  Sunday evening but couldn’t believe the hundreds of thousands of people I saw in Bamaina. The entire town and neighboring towns such as Babaldu, Kiyako and Birnin Kudu standstill as people from all angles of Nigeria were trooping to Bamaina for Maulud.

Commuters plying Kano-Bauchi-Gombe- Adamawa highway were very much attracted by the decorations. Some even made stopovers to feed their eyes. Some were saying indeed Bamaina has what some state capital lack.

I headed directly to the new resident of my leader Alh Dr Sule Lamido for greetings. The house or rather mansion was filled to capacity as hundreds of people went to greet their leader while others went to see the beautiful landscape of the house.

I later headed to the Queen-of-England-like-palace of District Head of Bamaina where I paid homage to Santurakin Dutse Alh Mustapha Sule Lamido. Dokajin Dutse Alh Aminu Wada Abubakar who many called an Arabian because of his handsomeness was also seated in the palace. We chatted for a while. Really, whenever one meets Santuraki, one will never lose  hope that Nigeria will one day be great. He is epitome of greatness and a great heir to all the values and virtues of his father. He is type of person that can change a pessimistic mind to an optimistic one within minutes.

At 10:00pm Dr Sule Lamido arrived the palace and Santuraki came out of his palace and bow down to great his great father. They later headed to the venue of the event in Bamaina Dubai-like central mosque.

Various dignitaries including politicians, businessmen and community leaders from within and outside Nigeria, traditional rulers from all over the country, prominent Islamic scholars, journalists and people from different walks of life were at the venue of the event.

The son of the prominent sheikh of Bamaina Late Sheikh Suleiman Bamaina Sheikh Kabiru Suleiman Bamaina chaired the event. Various scholars delivered sermons about birth and life of our beloved prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). This year’s sermons and speeches are very touching and indeed consolidate one’s faith in Allah and prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). Popular Islamic singers  displayed their talents at the event.

Monday morning the event continued with recitation of the holy Qur’an and scholars delivered speeches and the event ended with prayers for Jigawa State and Nigeria at large. Scholars thank and pray for Dr Sule Lamido for shouldering the responsibility of sponsoring the event. They pray Allah to grant him all desires.

Although it was a religious event, but since Bamaina is the political headquarters of Jigawa State you can’t take away some political movements from the town. At the sideline of the event I saw two categories of people and my attention was drawn to them. The first category comprise people from different parts of Jigawa State who said they are in Bamaina to use maulud day to pray and further call on Santurakin Dutse Alh Mustapha Sule Lamido to venture into politics and vie for Jigawa Central senatorial seat. They extol his values in which the liken him to his father Alh Sule Lamido who transformed the rural state of Jigawa into mini Dubai in Nigeria. They say although Santuraki is yet to response to the various calls and pressure from the masses, they believed their prayers on maulud day will be answered and Santuraki will succumb to pressure and join politics.

The second category comprises people from all over the country who came from various states to use the maulud day in Bamaina to add their voice to that of other Nigerians who are calling on Alh Sule Lamido to contest 2019 presidential elections. A group people from Katsina State told me “maulud is a special day and we decided to use this special day to come to Bamaina to pray and urge Dr Sule Lamido to come to the rescue of Nigeria by contesting in the next presidential election. He has proven himself to be a great leader and has vast experience and knowledge when he held sway as governor of Jigawa State. Let him come to villa and transform this country and take us out of recession and hardship.” Many people I discussed with told me that they have a great feeling that this Bamaina will soon become the hometown of the President and Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

I told myself who will doubt the prayers of the aggrieved, oppressed, prayerful and faithfuls?
