Attacks On Our Communities By Boko Haram And Fulani Herdsmen Have Continued Unabated– 52 Ethnic Nationalities Of Middle Belt

0 129

Yakubu Busari

At least 52 ethnic nationalities of Middle-Belt   in 14 out of the 19 states of the federation have blamed federal government for fueling and supporting the Fulani herdsmen killing in Nigeria.

The spokesman of the middle belt, Mr. Yusuf Samuel Hamman said it has become necessary to draw the attention of the nation on how the Fulani herders killing innocent lives.

Read The Full Statement Below:

1) In our maiden conference we state that: “IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE FIRST RESPONSIBILITY OF ANY GOVERNMENT IS THE PROTECTION OF LIVES AND PROPERTY. IF THEY FAIL IN THIS, THEY HAVE FAILED INDEED”. This group therefore is deeply saddened that attacks on our communities have continued unabated by Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsmen terrorists. That the Federal Government that has the monopoly of use of legitimate force has failed to put this to decisive halt is troubling.

(2) That this has continued for more than 2 years and progressively getting worse by the day under a regime that promised Nigerians and the world that they will stamp out insurgency in less than 3 months on assuming power is left for all to judge. Painfully, it is the lives of our people that are paying for this leadership failure. This the same group that shouted on rooftops why Goodluck Jonathan’s administration most go!

(3) We condemn in the strongest terms Government lackadaisical attitudes whereby the lives of our people are not held as precious.

(4) We call on the world community to note stream of Federal delegations to Taraba State on the 8th crisis in the state this year alone.  But the only reason it attracted these delegations is because the Fulani herdsmen/terrorists were victims. We have taken judicial note of their scolding and unscathed warning to Taraba State Government. The global community should also take note. It should be noted that this is the same Government that could not send delegation on any of the countless killing that took place in plateau; southern Kaduna; Benue; Ile-lfe; Enugu; Borno; Adamawa; Potiskum; etc.

(5)We will not forget how those who midwife the abduction of our Chibok girls are rewarded with prime appointments.

(6) We will not forget the role played by some personalities in government then, during Dogon Nahauwa genocide on our people in plateau; genocide in Kaduna; Taraba; Benue;etc.  WE WILL NO FOR GET.

(7) We resolutely stand behind our elders who warned on the ongoing Islamization of the country. If other religions had behaved in a similar manner when in power; the story would have been different in their favour. Secularity of this country we be strongly defended. Our tormentors should not forget that we are a battle tested and resilient region and our enormous sacrifice so far should not be taken for granted. Any disrespect to our elder statesmen and leaders will not be tolerated. We await to see similar streams of Federal government delegations to Kaduna State; who will issue stern warning to the Governor and threat of declaration of the state of emergency. More than Gov. Darius who is a saint; Gov. El Rufai’s cup is too full given recent killing of 37 of our people in his state. This good litmus test for the Federal Government.

(8) We wish to strongly commend the Senate President with his colleagues and other stakeholders for the role he played in dousing tension on the CRS issue and it’s amicable resolution.

(9) We are also proud of the courage of our amiable Gov. Darius of Taraba for standing up to blatant insult on the patience and sensibility of our people by the Federal Government delegations. This who we are in the Middle Belt.

(10) Will we stand for peace in the country and have lost so much by these terrorists and their backers, we should not be pushed to a point we will be forced to recourse to egalitarian balance of terror.

Thank you all for coming to help us tell the world our story.

Long live the Middle-Belt…..Long live our brotherly regions of the federation……

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. …

God bless you all.
