Atiku Joins ADC, Says Move Marks Turning Point From APC Governance

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has formally registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a move he described as the beginning of a “decisive national rescue mission” to end what he called the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The registration took place at noon in his Jada I Ward, Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State, attracting a large crowd of supporters and senior party stakeholders.

Atiku, who recently emerged as the national leader of the ADC, arrived at the ward centre in the company of top party figures, including Shehu Yohanna Kambile,the Adamawa State chairman of the party. He completed the registration process to loud applause from supporters who hailed the moment as historic for the party.

Speaking shortly afterward, Atiku said his official entry into the ADC marked the start of a strategic political realignment aimed at unseating the APC in upcoming elections. He warned that Nigeria was facing an unprecedented governance crisis, saying the country had reached a tipping point.

“My registration today marks the beginning of a coordinated effort to rescue Nigeria from rudderless leadership that has brought the country to the brink,” he said. He argued that the APC’s “ineffectual leadership” had exposed the nation to “seismic danger,” leaving citizens in the grip of an existential crisis.

The former vice president urged Nigerians to rise above ethnic and religious divisions and join what he called a “national vanguard” committed to restoring stability, prosperity, and good governance. He said the ADC offered a credible platform to rebuild trust in leadership and revive the country’s economic and security fortunes.

Adamawa ADC chairman, Shehu Yohanna Kambile, described Atiku’s registration as a watershed moment for the party. He said the development would strengthen internal structures, consolidate unity, and reposition the ADC as a viable alternative to both the APC and the PDP.

“Atiku’s entry into the ADC is a major boost that will deepen cohesion and enhance our prospects ahead of future elections,” Kambile said. “With this renewed spirit of inclusiveness, the ADC is now the party to beat in Adamawa and across Nigeria.”

Atiku’s registration is expected to accelerate ongoing efforts to expand the party’s membership base as political realignments gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
