At Least 1156 Vulnerable Persons To Receive Covid-19 Intervention In Plateau State

The Plateau State Coordinator of National Safety Nets Coordinating Office, NASSCO Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, on rapid Respond Register, RRR, Mr  Kenneth Isah has disclosed the state targeted one thousand one hundred & fifty-seven, the poorest vulnerable persons to uplift the economic well-being in 15 LGAs.

 

Isah made this disclosure during the National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office, NASSCO,Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and social development in collaboration with Plateau State ministry of budget & economic planning, Plateau state operation Coordinating unite (SOCU) welcome stakeholders sensitization on rapid respond register, RRR, held at CSDA office, Jos.

 

He said the sensitization awareness workshop for stakeholders is targeted at market women, businessmen, vendors, rural populace vulnerable persons.

 

According to him, no fewer than 659 for the vulnerable persons in Plateau Southern district,368 persons in Plateau Central, and l3l in Plateau Northern as beneficiaries of government intervention towards reducing poverty in Plateau state.

 

Kenneth Isah stressed that following the training undergone by the staff of SOCU and CBTT, identification of the poorest LGAs through poverty map of the state using geographical mapping which leads to the selection of 6 LGAS with two from each geopolitical zones.

 

He decried the covid-19 pandemic impact on vulnerable persons in society as the situation getting deeper which affected livelihood citizens.

 

Isah emphasized that the outbreak of disease destroy business owners, petty traders and daily wages as workers no longer feed their families.

 

He explained further that in Nigeria, SOCU is one of the interventions introduces by the Federal government to assist households to cushion the economic shocks of the pandemic on urban, semi-urban poor Nigerians.
