Apologize To Us Your Kinsmen, For Pleading For Forgiveness To The Hausa/Fulani In Plateau On Our Behalf, Berom Natives Tell Sen Gyang
Yakubu Busari
The Berom speaking natives of Plateau State have urged Senator, representing the good people of Plateau North Senatorial District, Sen. Istifanus D. Gyang to tender an unreserved apology to his Berom Kinsmen for allegedly pleading for forgiveness on their behalf, from the Hausa Fulani in the state,
They made this known during the arrangements for the forthcoming WUSAL BEROM, youths under the platform of Berom Political Frontier said the Senator stated this at his residence in Jos during the last Sallah celebration for wrongs they are yet to know of.
BPF, in a press briefing, while drawing the attention of its members and Nigerians to the Annual Thanks Giving and Prayer Day, known as WUSAL Berom, coming up on Sunday, 10th November, 2019, at Vwei (Mararaban Jama’a) Open Arena, in Jos South Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
The statement also questioned the capacity of the Senator to have spoken on behalf of the Berom, the Berom Socio-Cultural groups and Plateau People at large.
While making reference to the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Socio-cultural Organization, Abdullahi Bodejo, who has said that, there was no basis for Fulani Herdsmen to apologize to Governor Samuel Ortom, over alleged killings of Benue people and that he, as the “National President do not apologize to anybody because, the Fulani and their organization do not kill people”, the Spokesman of BPF, Mr. David Choji said,.
“We, as BPF members, want to also use this Press Briefing to call on Sen. I. D. Gyang to reframe from representing the Berom people in such capacity and follow the basic Principles of Democracy. Even at that level, he should also realize that he is not the political leader of the Berom people.
“Based on the Fulani National President’s revelation above, we use this medium to call on Sen. I.D. Gyang to tender an unreserved apology to the Berom People and the entire Plateau people now as the forgiveness package, meant to deceive the people has crumbled in the face of TRUTH.
“Furthermore, we call on Sen. I.D Gyang, to tell the people of Plateau State what has gone wrong with the political, Son and brotherly relationship between him and the former governor of the State, Sen. Jonah David Jang, his Boss, while he served as Permanent Secretary Security in the state.”
The Mr. David Choji (chairman) Pam Markus (secretary),group also used the press briefing to question the reason why Sen. Gyang is no more maintaining the relationship he had with the former governor of the state, while noting that, the Senator, gained richly from the then governor, Sen. Jonah David Jang.
“We also want to know, why, Sen. Gyang is celebrating and touring around the state, while his former Boss, Sen. Jang is been prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Plateau State High Court in Jos.” The Spokesman reiterated his stand and demand on Sen. Gyang.
However, while fielding answers to questions from journalists at the press briefing, BPF Spokesman, Mr. Choji said:
“We have been watching with keen interest the way the prosecution of the former governor by the EFCC is going and we have also been monitoring the loyalty of some of our kinsmen, who served under his administration. We have observed that some especially the Sen. Gyang has been acting less concerned.
He has being embarking on his political activities in the state as if nothing is going on wrongly. On the other hand, we have also observed others, who have demonstrated complete loyalty.
Hence we are asking for explanation from the Senator. We also hope to balance his reaction when he makes his public, as the inquiry that we have made public now, from Da. Jonah Jang. We believe this will lead us to an amicable solution and worthy future action, if need be. We cannot be going for prayers with our hearts filled with anger, among other emotions.”
