APGA Women Endorse Capt Ihenacho As Consensus Candidate

23 out of 27 local government women leaders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State has endorsed the former Minister of Interior Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho as their consensus candidate for the 2015 Governorship election in Imo State.

This endorsement was made public when the women leaders paid a solidarity visit to the former minister in Owerri recently.

Speaking on behalf of the party officials, the Women Leader of the party in the state, Lady Uche Agbasi said that the endorsement came after the women critically analysed all the governorship aspirants in the party. She stated that there was no need for the women to continue hiding the implicit confidence they have on the international naval merchant whom they described as the best governorship aspirant that would be most acceptable to the Imo electorate come 2015.

While thanking the women for the visit and the endorsement, the former minister who is also the Genesis Shipping Line boss recounted how he provided enormous job opportunities for the unemployed and repositioned the parastatals under his supervision, then within the short time he was the Minister of Interior. He also remarked that having served in many places and at different levels in the public and private sectors, he was well equipped to lead the state better.

“If I have the opportunity to lead Imo State, I will create value. Industrialization and job creation will be my priority.  These, I will ensure along side with policies on agriculture, health, infrastructural development, workers’ welfare, pensions, etc. Late Sam Mbakwe established up to 34 industries in Imo State within four years of his administration. Unfortunately, subsequent leaders could not follow his template because they do not have the experience and drive. We need honest and experienced persons who can ensure good governance that is tailored towards economic growth and development”, he concluded.

He, however, promised not to let the women, the party and the masses down if given the opportunity to serve the state as a governor in 2015.
