The Anambra state Gov Willie Obiano has inaugurated the first phase of the Anaocha Local Government Area streetlight project along the newly reconstructed, expanded and beautified Agulu Lake road, Agulu.

The first phase of the street-lighting project which spans above four kilometres, uses 150 Watts LED bulbs and is powered by gas.

Inaugurating the project, Gov Obiano said his government is committed to the expansion of the ‘light up’ Anambra project to reach all parts of the State.

Gov Obiano revealed that his administration has conscientiously completed most road projects commenced in the community by his predecessor, adding that within six months, it will complete the upgrade of the Agulu community’s hospital and the construction of a major borehole that will provide potable water for the people.

According to him, what is remaining with the Agulu Lake Resort project, is for the parameters to be presented by the new investor that will manage it so that the hotel can be completed according to their specifications.

He thanked the Agulu Community for their support towards his administration and party-the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA). The Governor assured them of his administration commitment to continue to avail them dividends of democracy.

The Traditional Ruler of the Community, HRH Igwe Innocent Obodoakor who described Gov Obiano as a man with a good heart, and acknowledged that despite the contemporary economic challenges, he has effectively managed the State’s meagre resources to meet its statutory responsibilities. He therefore called on the citizens to to support him by paying their taxes promptly.

In their remarks, the immediate past Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, as well as the Member representing Anaocha One constituency in the State Assembly, Mr Azubuike Okoye noted that the project will greatly complement the Governor’s Security initiative in the State. Again, that with the visible evidence of his outstanding performance, Ndi Anambra will be convinced when the time comes, that he deserves a second term in office.

The Anaocha Council Transition committee Chairman, Mr Ikeobi Ejiofor and the President General of the Community, Mr Paulinus Aniagboso observed that the Light-up Anambra project will help drastically reduce accidents that occur along the State roads due to poor vehicular lights.

The lights were switched on by Igwe Obodoakor and his Nri Counterpart, Ezenri Obidiegwu Onyesoh, courtesy of the Gov Obiano amidst cheers and great joy by all.
