Imo State Police Command has asked residents of Imo State to vigilant and be careful  of an alleged plot by some gangsters to bomb the Government House.

In a statement signed by Andrew Enwerem the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, said that the Police Command got knowledge of the conspiracy to bomb the Government House and some locations in the state through the social media.

As gathered the Police warned residents to be vigilant as it said that it has beefed up security in the targeted areas, which include Government House, the Ama Hausa Market, Douglas Road, the World Bank area, the Central Mosque, the Relief Market, among others.

In the meantime, the Imo State Government, in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, attributed the alleged bomb scare to the handiwork of its rival political party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who it noted was raising the alarm to divert the attention of the public over the lead of its party (APC) in the rerun election.

The statement reads thus; “The problem with these PDP folks is that they do not tell intelligent lies. If Douglas Road, World Bank Road and Relief Market are bombed like they claimed, who knows who would be the victims? These mentioned areas – are they accommodated by people from a particular party or particular home or area?”

“We make haste to contend that the PDP elements in the state, having lost their deposits in the re-run election in the state, were the brains behind what we have already described as balderdash. We know their antecedents and equally know their antics. We know their language. And most of their claims in the audio were also the subject-matter of their campaign of calumny during the 2015 election,” the release state.
