In spirituality, we believe in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ- the Son of the Highest God as the Creed of “Holy Ghost Evangelical Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, HOGECC, ( Yahweh’s Temple) Umuoyo Irete, Owerri West LGA of Imo State, Nigeria”.
HOGECC as popularly known is a (Spiritual Church of Jesus Christ, the son of the Most High God) is however a well-, known Pentecostal Church of God, so established and founded on July 17th,1987 by the founder, Bishop-Apostle MacBenedict Ndubuisi Opara (Late) as the President of the Church.
The President/Founder of the Holy Ghost Evangelical Church of the Lord Jesus Christ (HOGECC), Late Apostle/Bishop MacBenedict, until his demise on Feb.6th, 2012 was a good shepherd who loved God and humanity.
According to the words of Late Apostle Bishop MacBenedict, while he was alive, “Though, I founded the body of Christ (Church) here on earth but God Almighty is the owner of the Church. Note that the Headquarters of the Church is in Heaven. The Heavenly Jerusalem. Because we must always think about the things from above. Even, we are in the world, but we are not of the world”.

Late Apostle-Bishop MacBenedict Ndubuisi Opara, of Umuoyo Irete Owerri West LGA Imo State of Nigeria.
HOGECC is rightly located at Umuoyo Irete Owerri West LGA Imo State, the country home of late Apostle Bishop-Apostle MacBenedict.
The ordained clergyman, Bishop MacBenedict Opara,(Late), was a former staff of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education,AIFCE, Owerri, Imo State, who retired successful and meritoriously after putting 35 years into active services.
While as a Federal Civil Servant, MacBen, was an example of Christianity and an epitome of honour.
He was celebrated by all and sundry in Owerri, where he demonstrated the legacy of Christ.
Bro.Ben, as fondly and simply called, addressed, and known by his teeming Christian faithful and followers, Bishop MacBenedict displayed his show of love, caring, and passion to all who visited his church as worshipers of Christ.
As an ordained Reverend, Bishop MacBenedict, until his demise believes in the name of Jesus Christ.
Bishop MacBenedict, when he was on earth was a Prophet of God, Teacher of Humanity and an Evangelist, a Preacher of the gospel of Christ ,who converted so many souls to God for the salvation of mankind.
To God be the glory that the highly recommend and respected servant of God, Late Apostle Bishop MacBenedict, have ten (10) children who are fearful and humble to God.
Amongst his holy spirit-filled children are: ” Hon.Deacon Daniel Chinweikpe Opara, (son), Pastor Chibuzo Emmanuel, Happiness Chimezie Opara, Evangelist Evangeline Opara, Bro.Enoch Chibuikem Opara(Late), Elezabeth Onyinyechi Opara, Chukwuemeka Ephraim Opara, George-David Opara, Winner Uloma Opara and Timothy Chinonye Opara.
The name of their mother, the wife of Late Apostle Bishop MacBenedict is Matron Evang. Martina Nnenna Opara.
