The intact Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON,Imo State, who served during the former Imo Governor, Dr.Ikedi Ohakim, as LGA Chairmen and Councillors from 2010-2013 but were sacked out of office by the immediate past Imo Governor, Rochas Okorocha,was on last Thursday, 9th Jan.2020,officially claimed the sole and authentic group who are suppose to be recalled to offices following the current “Return to the LGA Council offices” by the Chief Judge of the Federation,Hon.Justice Tanko Mohammed.
Addressing newsmen in Owerri,the Chairman of ALGON 2010-2013 set,Hon.Chief Dr.Ezekiel Chukwukere,aka “I know This Man,(Embattled Chairman of Nwangele LGA)who spoke as the ALGON Representative,thanked God Almighty for keeping them alive from 2010-2020,even as he expressed worry over the recent invasion of offices by some members of Imo APC who were illegally sacked by the IMHA members as products of illegality from the so-called shame/shamble LG election exercise illegally conducted by Chief Rochas Okorocha’s govt.in 2018.
” It is very unfortunate that this crop of persons shamelessly parade d themselves about as elected LGA personnels whereas their claims is different from the purpose and main objective that motivated Rochas Okorocha to wit,to engage in that inglorious exercise, despite the warning from the Supreme Court Justices. It is unfortunate that those illegal products of Chief Rochas’ administration have decided to lay claim”,Hon.Ezekiel submitted.
According to the release,it states:”That the only purpose the purported election was aimed at serving was to provide a large number of statutory delegates who would vote for the preferred Guber aspirant of the then Imo Governor, Chief Rochas, in the APC primaries. But immediately the APC adopted direct primaries method for it’s 2019 Governorship primaries which rendered that APC purported elected officials of the LGA’s ordinary, then Chief Okorocha as the then Governor discarded them and hence he stopped their salaries for more than 6 months before the May 29th 2019 Imo Governorship handover”.
In the same vain,the 2010 embattled Imo ALGON Chairman,Chief Chukwukere,who spoke on behalf the 27 LGA’s of Imo State, recalled: “suffice to say that Chief Okorocha’s govt.at a point when confronted by the Supreme Court on contempt of court denied to have conducted any LG election but rather branded his exercise as an Autonomous Community election”.
“Therefore, those parading themselves as elected LGA Council Councillors and Chairmen under the leadership of Rochas,who are causing mayhem in the 27 LGA’s of the state are all imposters. They should bury their faces on shame, because they were legitimately dissolved. Those of 2010 set are those only qualified by law to be recalled into office as duly elected LGA personnels(Chairmen and Councillors)as the only set also entitled to lay claim to the Chief Justice of Nigeria’s declaration”.
” We the 2010 ALGON members,therefore,hereby advised those illegally products who are Okorocha’s men to bury their heads in shame because they are illegally constituted and as such they should disturbing the peace of the people of Imo State. We urge the security agencies to be on their prowl and bring their wanton activities and acts of LG recent invasion and vandalism to book”,2010 Imo ALGON maintained.
