Alakyo Killings: Four Police Officers Arraign Over Massacre Of 104 Security Agents In Nasarawa State

The High Court sitting in Lafia has arraigned four Police officers in connection to the killing of 104 Security agents in 2013.

The suspects were arraigned on 73 count charges over the ambushment of Mobile Police, Police and men of the Department of State Services by members of Ombatse, an Eggon militia group at Alakyo Village in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa on May 7, 2013.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Suleiman Dikko, in his ruling adjourned the case till April 25, 2018 for hearing.

The accused officers Mohammed Asanya, Saidu Yakubu, Angwolo Attah and Enugu Baba, all of Alakyo all pleaded not guilty to the charges which bordered on “murder, use of guns, machete and charms on officers of the Nigeria Police Force, 38 Squadron, Akwanga and the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Lafia.”

Counsel to the accused persons, Emmanuel Kuza of the Legal Aid Council urged the court to adjourn the matter on the grounds of ill health of one of the Police officer and was not opposed by the prosecution.

It could be recalled that on the 7, May 2013 twelve Hilux vans full loaded with men of the Joint Security agents were deployed to Alakyo to apprehend the Chief Priest of Ombotse, Eggon militia group an operation that led to loss of many lives while the  Hilux vans were brunt to ashes.
