How Al-Makura Used Civil Servants, Teachers’ Salary To Build Storey Building-Nasarawa APGA

The chairman of the opposition political party, The All Progressives Grand Alliance in Nasarawa state, Musa Saidu has said the third tier of government under the leadership of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura is a charade.

Saidu gave the affirmation during an interview with Journalists recently; he said the All Progressives Congress under Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura is a disaster to the grass root, adding that everything was grounded to a halt.

The chairman asserted that the ruling party has plunged the state to a ghost state compounded by stagnation, agony, deprivation, hunger and joblessness mar by nonpayment of workers’ salaries as the legacies of governor Al-Makura.

While reacting over the N1.5bn Paris/London club refund been the first tranche meant for projects ranging from culverts, bridges and drainages, the former chairman Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Musa Saidu expressed dismay over the way and manner Interim Management Committee chairmen were relegated to the background as mere supervisors of projects.

“This not obtainable in the history of Nasarawa state, that N1.5bn belong to Local Governments not state but the governor has total control of their finances which is wrong”.

“What is obtainable in Nasarawa state now is a death Local Governments”.

Saying a vibrant Local Government only exist during the reign of governor Aliyu Akwe Doma ,adding that the third tier of government were involved in decision making.

The APGA chairman affirmed that the former governor Akwe Doma would be remembered for the frequent released of 10 percent of the Internally Generated Revenue of the state to the Local Government.

“Was this obtainable under governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura?, no “.

While commenting on the track records of the APC led government in Nasarawa state, APGA chairman opined that the APC government in the state is rather consolidating on the achievements of the immediate past governor, Akwe Doma.

“The commendation should go to the former governor too for the vital role and roadmap put in place.

Saying the then government of PDD which he served as an elected chairman of Awe Local Government has done a lot in Lafia, the state Capital.

“Former governor opened new roads in the state capital and rural areas too, but Al-Makura only focused in the construction of roads in Lafia,in the areas of education”.

He described the storey buildings as a mere cosmetic while teachers welfare was compromised/

Musa Saidu asserted that the only new project under Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in the last six years was the crash airport project at Kwandare.

Stating that the airport project was coming at a time the engine room of government businesses is surviving on the mercy of God.
