Akwa Ibom Police Commissioner Dismisses Constable For Cultism

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command under the leadership of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal has ordered the total dismissal from the force one Mfon Esio (‘m’) with Police number F/NO. 513379 PC for cultism.

 

Police press release dated Thursday June 11, 2020 and signed by CSP N-Nudam K. Fredrick, Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, Mfon Esio, police constable was dismissed because of cultism, after orderly room trial and was found guilty.

 

“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command under the leadership of CP IMOHIMI EDGAL is determined to decimate cultism and other crimes in the State.

 

To this end, the Command has dismissed F/NO. 513379 PC Mfon Esio for discreditable conduct to wit cultism. The said Constable on 20th May, 2020 was fingered in a Junior Vikings Confraternity initiation in which one Ubong John William ‘m’ was allegedly abducted to a bush along Marina Road, Eket where he was forcefully initiated into the Junior Vikings Confraternity. The Constable has been subjected to orderly room trial where he was found guilty of the offence and has been dismissed immediately from the Force. This will serve as a deterrent to others of his like in the Force”, the statement read in part.

 

According to the release, 12 notorious cultists were also arrested in different locations in Akwa Ibom State.

Udoh ‘m’ of Mbierebe Obio village, Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, Ukpono Albert ‘m’ of No. 2 Ikot Ekpene Rd, Uyo, Idorenyin Albert ‘m’, Nseobong Etim Inyang ‘m’, Christopher Sunday Asuquo ‘m’ of Idung Akpautung, Esit Eket LGA, Wisdom Effiong Archibong ‘m’ of Idung Akpautung, Esit Eket LGA, Ekemini James Ekwere ‘m’ of Idung Akpautung, Esit Eket LGA, Aniedi Ekong Eshiet a.k.a “Saint” ‘m’ of Idua Road, Eket LGA, Emmanuel John Jack ‘m’ of No.23 Grace Bill Road, Eket LGA, and Socrate Evidence Bassey a.k.a “Bone” ‘m’ of Odoro Enen village, Eket LGA.

 

The following exhibits were recovered from them:

Ten (10) locally made pistols

Four hundred (400) live cartridges

Ten (10) expended cartridges

Fifteen (15) machetes

Five (5) axes

Wraps of substance suspected to be cocaine

Items suspected to be charms.

 

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal, warned that the force is ready to fight cultism and crimes in the state without considering the social status of the suspect.

 

“The Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State therefore warns that any persons, no matter how highly placed involved in cultism or other crimes will be promptly arrested and prosecuted accordingly.”
