Aggrieved APC Chairmanship Aspirants In Nasarawa State Calls For Fresh Conduct Of Primaries

Fourteen Chairmanship aspirants in Doma Local Government Council of Nasarawa State in the just concluded Chairmanship primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress have called on the caretaker committee of the APC in the State to conduct a fresh primary for the interest of the party.

 

He said the dissolution of the primaries conducted on July 26, 2021, is a total abbreviation of the APC constitution and the undertaken signed by all the 19 Chairmanship aspirants.

 

This position was contained in a letter of complaint written by Mohammed Danjuma and Co, a legal practitioner and Consultants, Halal Chamber with the title “Complaint Of Illegal Chairmanship Primary Election For Doma Local Government Council Conducted On The 26th July 2021 At Doma Guest House And The Illegal Acts Of Arch. Ahmed Sarki Usman Against Out Client Mohammed Abdul Ibrahim Esq For Himself And On Behalf Of Fourteen Others.

 

The Chairmanship aspirant in his prayers called on the State Secretariat of the party to revert back to the earlier resolution of the aspirants which agreed on a consensus candidate in the person of Mrs.Victoria Apawa Bako or to conduct fresh primaries.

 

Another prayer was for the State Secretariat to suspend the Chairmanship candidate, Arch. Ahmed Sarki Usman for tempering with the process which he said jeopardize internal democracy of the party as provided in Article 21 (B) of the APC constitution.

 

The letter of complaint dated 30th July 2021 and copy to the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, The Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Hon.Musa Ibrahim, Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources as Chairman of the reconciliation Committee, The Local Government executive committee, and the Ward.

 

They further described the recent Chairmanship election as an ill-motive and Kangaroo primaries conducted without decorum, stating further that all the fourteen Chairmanship aspirants were denied entry into the venue of the election due to the security beefed up at the Local Government Guest House.

 

Some of the Chairmanship aspirants in a telephone interview averred that they were not briefed about the development until he finished all processes.

 

Stating further that they have no option other than to succumb to the process, Hon.Abdullahi Danlami Umar and Jaa’far Ahmed have revealed an effort to reach the immediate past Overseer Ekye Development Area, Bello Akoza proved abortive.

 

The Chairmanship candidate, Arch. Ahmed Sarki Usman could not be reached for comment at press time.

 

While the State caretaker committee Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, John Mamman when contacted said is yet to receive the letter of complaint.
