The some group of people from Imo State who are mostly political supporters, members and leaders of the People’s Democratic Party,PDP,was on last Sunday,Jan.19th 2020.
The protesters where armed with various placards inscriptions, banners and chanted all kinds of instigating war songs demanding the Supreme Court of Nigeria to reverse the verdict allegedly given against the embattled Imo State Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha,that was sacked recently by the Apex Court.
According to them,we are in the major roads and streets of Owerri,while some other members of the PDP extraction are on a national wide protest against the injustice melted on our capacity Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha.
“We are on protest because of the injustice served on the temple of justice, last Tuesday,in Abuja. We are not happy and we cannot accept that foul play. It must be reverse”, they lamented.
They described the sacking of Gov.Ihedioha by the Supreme Court as a never-seen-before rape of Nigeria’s constitution and democracy.
The mammoth crowd of protesters (party faithfuls) through the leadership of Imo PDP requested that the Apex Court in Nigeria (the Supreme Court) to reverse the Imo Guber Jugement that sacked the PDP Governorship candidate, Chief Emeka Ihedioha as Governor.
They therefore requested the immediate resignation of the Chief Justice of Nigeria,Hon.Justice Tanko Muhammed.
They said they want Ihedioha back to the Imo seat of power as Governor of Imo State.
Amongst those who led the protesters (some of the Imo PDP chieftains, appointees) includes:”Barr.Chris Okwulonu, former Chief of Staff, Hon.Chuma Nnaji, former Commissioner for Public Utilities,Hon.Ray Emeana, Secretary of PDP Imo State and
Barr.Mrs.Maureen Onyekele, the former Interim Management Chairman Ihitte/Uboma LGA, amongst some other party members especially those appointees whom the sack of Chief Ihedioha affected.
However,the protesters during the protest insited that Gov.Hope Uzodinma,who was declared as Imo State Governor by the Supreme Court of Nigeria does win the 2019 Imo Guber polls held in Imo,but was made Governor via the injustice delivered by the Court, which they protesters described as hieght of injustice against the wish and interest of the entire Imo people.
The people (PDP protesters) in Imo State therefore called on the Supreme Court to reverse the case and pronounce Chief Emeka Ihedioha as the authentic ImoState Governor without any further delay.
