Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintri of Adamawa state, has announced the inclusion of 11 Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs ) to benefit from the new minimum wage, he says the government has constituted a joint committee to work out modalities by which the 11 Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs) which have not benefited from the new wage increment, would benefit.
The committee which is headed by the Head of civil service Pharmacist Shehu Isa is to partner stakeholders in addressing pressing issues affecting workers and explore ways to enhance workers well-being in the state.
Kaletapwa Farauta, the state Deputy Governor, who represented the governor, made the disclosure on the occasion of workers day celebration held at Mahmud Ribadu square in Yola.
Farauta who represented her principal the governor, stressed that government recognize challenges workers are facing generally, and reiterated commitments to improving their working conditions.
“Government would ensure timely payment of salaries, providing opportunities for capacity building and human capital development.
She lauded the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for for advocating the workers right and welfare
“NLC’s dedication to promoting social justice and fairness in the workplace is commendable.
“Government remain committed to building a state where workers are not only respected, but are given the tools and conditions to thrive”the Governor added.
Earlier, NLC state chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, lamented hike in electricity traffic which made worse by categorizing the supply and distribution into various bands criteria.
Fashe listed, Bureau for Public Procurement, staff of both Accountant and Auditor General’s offices, judiciary and legislative staff are among the 11 MDAs whose salaries are bonded by the state laws are yet to feel the impact of the wage increment in the state.
