The Adamawa State Government has debunked rumours alleging that it ordered the closure of schools across the state, describing the claim as false, misleading, and aimed at creating unnecessary panic.

In a statement issued by Humwashi Wonosikou, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, said no such directive was ever contemplated, let alone approved.

According to the statement, the circulating reports were the handiwork of mischief makers intent on sowing confusion and undermining the administration’s steady progress, particularly in the education sector.

Governor Fintiri, who condemned the rumours in strong terms, insisted they lacked “basis, substance, and truth.” He urged parents, students, teachers, and the general public to disregard the misinformation and continue all academic activities without disruption, reaffirming that schools remain open and fully operational across the state.

The governor warned that the government would take firm and decisive action against individuals or groups spreading falsehoods capable of destabilising public peace.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming the education sector, noting that significant investments and reforms were already yielding results aimed at strengthening learning environments and securing a brighter future for children in the state.

Fintiri appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of government initiatives, emphasizing the importance of relying solely on verified information from official channels. He cautioned those responsible for circulating the rumour to desist or face the full weight of the law.

The governor assured that his administration remains focused on delivering quality education and will not be distracted by attempts to undermine ongoing efforts to make Adamawa a centre of educational excellence.
