The Adamawa State Government has announced the cancellation of all activities earlier scheduled to mark the Cross-Over Night celebration at the Unity Fly-Over in Jimeta, Yola, from the night of Wednesday, December 31, 2025, to the early hours of Thursday, January 1, 2026.

The decision, according to the government, follows credible intelligence reports indicating potential security threats associated with large public gatherings at the venue during the period.

Authorities stated that the move was taken as a proactive measure to safeguard lives and property, emphasizing that the safety and security of residents remain the state government’s top priority.

In a statement issued by the government, it was noted that it is working closely with security agencies to assess the situation and ensure sustained peace and stability across the state.

The statement emphasized that while the cancellation may inconvenience some residents, the measure is necessary to prevent any possible breach of security.

The government has also advised residents, particularly those in Yola North and Yola South Local Government Areas, to remain vigilant, avoid crowded places, and cooperate fully with security agencies during the festive period.

Members of the public were urged to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security post or relevant authorities.

The Adamawa State Government reassured citizens that adequate security arrangements remain in place across the state to ensure a peaceful transition into the New Year.

He added that further updates would be communicated to the public as the situation evolves.

Residents were encouraged to celebrate responsibly within their homes and communities while adhering to security advisories issued by the authorities.
