The Chief of staff to Adamawa state Governor, Alh. Abdulrahaman Abba Jimeta in last weekend engaged in a fight with an All progressives Congress (APC) official from Yola North Local Area.
However, the Governor’s intervention helped quelled the fight as he scolded them, that they have disappointed him considering their status in the society.
The row ensued during a meeting of party chairmen from the 21 local government areas held at the residence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar with the governor and some party chieftains in attendance.
Eye witnesses told our correspondent that trouble started when the Chief of Staff insisted that he don’t recognise Baba-Ahmad as the Yola North party chairman, as such that he has to leave the meeting.
The meeting continued after party elders appealed to the two personalities to bury their differences but no sooner than the meeting was concluded that the two men resumed verbal fight.
Then the Chief of Staff removed his gown and the two men threw punches at each other until the governor held Baba-Ahmad while a party chieftain, Lawalu Gire took hold of the Chief of Staff to end the fight.
Soon after the face off, the APC chairman announced the suspension of the Chief of Staff from the Yola North chapter of the party for indiscipline.
Baba-Ahmad confirmed the development to Journalists and hope for an amiably way of resolving the issue as the elder statesmen have sort for peace in the party but attempt to speak to Abba was not successful.
In the same vein the Organising secretary of APC in Adamawa state, Alhaji Ahmad Lawal at a press conference with Journalists in Yola distanced the party from any link with Baba Ahmad as he said that Ahmad is not even a Party Member not to talk of holding any leadership position of the Party.
“Who is Baba Ahmad in the first place that he will have the power to suspend anybody in the party, he is not a member? For your information Baba Ahmad is never our member and we don’t even know him as a party member in the state”. Lawal said
” Abdulrahaman Abba Jimeta is never suspended and he cannot, he is still a party stalwart of repute in this state,” he added.
