As part of restoring the lost dignity of Owerri Master Plan in Imo State, the leadership of Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA,was on Monday, Oct.14th 2019,commenced on frantic removal of alleged structures in the Owerri Metropolis,which according to the authority was described as illegally built.
The OCDA taskforce team who swung into demolition action with their earth moving equipment ( Cartapillar and Pay-loader) to a structure located at Ikenegbu Road/Cherubim Junction off Wethdral Road owned a repute Traditional Ruler in the State known as EddyBrown.
Speaking to newsmen,the Media Aide to the OCDA GM,Mr.Anayo Ohaekelem,in his words, described the demolished ongoing one storey building as a illegal structures was built on the fence of another building, which according to Mr.Anayo,was against the building standard and permit of the authority.
“Remember,we are trying to restore and uphold the official Owerri Master Plan. Our people do not want to obey the law. OCDA informed the builder to stop work on the 8th of Oct. 2019,during the foundation levels but he refused. He told us that ” it can only cause some fortunes to close the case”. More illegally structures will go down in Owerri soonest”,he submitted.
All efforts tried to connect HRM Eze Eddy Njoku,(EddyBrown Electronics Nig.Ltd.Owerri) the owner of the demolished building on his telephone proved abortive as at the press time.
