Accountant World Communication Technology and Human Development Consultancy, says it is seeking a partnership with the Nasarawa State House Assembly in financial discipline and management.
They added that checks and balances remain the only fulcrum that will lubricate Good Governance in the State.
The Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Abubakar Ibrahim Akika the Chief buttressed this during a courtesy visit to the Minority Leader and Chairman House Committee on Public Account, Honorable Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki in Lafia.
The CEO however explained that the objective of the visit was to smoothen the rough edges as well as seek partnership with the Assembly in the area of developmental public account and financial discipline in Nasarawa state.
He underscored the need to meet international standards and best practices when it comes to public account management in the State.
Abubakar Ibrahim Akika identified possible areas of partnership to include: fundamental principal management of the public account of Nasarawa state, financial control and accountability, financial budget, and budgetary expenditure.
Other key areas are financial procurement, the financial accounting standard and due process of public accounts, financial information and database of public, and many more.
He in addition disclosed that his firm has the expertise technical knowledge and skills to deliver on the aforementioned areas and many more.
“The essence of our visit to the office of the Honourable and chairman of House Committee on Public Account is to partner with him to identify areas of developmental public account management, He added
“The visit also is to enable us to seek and identify areas of intervention of growth and development of public account management in the state, He added
“With this, we are seeking 3 years offer on developmental management consultancy service to the house on public account management and capacity building,” he said.
He applauded the member, Solomon Akwashiki for executing people-oriented projects, touching the lives of women and youth through empowerment as well as attracting employment for his constituents.
Responding, the chairman House Committee on Public Account and member representing Lafia Central under the auspices of the Social Democratic Party, Solomon Akwashiki appreciated the firm for the visit.
Akwashiki said that the relevant sections of the constitution empower lawmakers to carry out their responsibilities without fear or favour.
“I must say that the essence of account is for check and balance, without accountability there wouldn’t have been Government, as chairman of public accounts I have been empowered by law to check public accounts, especially Ministries, Department and Agencies to ensure that the right time is done.
“And the purpose of the committee is to ensure transparency in terms of balance but not to witch-hunt any MDAs.
“I must say you are a very critical stakeholder as far as Government is concerned, and I want to assure you I will partner with you and I will take on what the leader of the delegation mentioned one after another.
The lawmaker appreciated the firm for the award accorded him, Saying the award would spur him to do more for his constituents.
Honorable Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki appealed to Ministries, Department, and Agencies in the State to always to be supportive to the Government of the day.
