Abducted Kankara Students Regain Freedom

The Katsina State Government on Thursday night at about 9pm announced the release of the 333 boys of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara who were abducted when bandits invaded the School on Friday December 11, 2020.

A statement from the Secretary to Government of Katsina State, Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa confirming the release of the boys said they are being transported to the Government House for presentation to the Governor.

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari also confirmed the release of the schoolboys.

The governor said the abductees will reunite with their families later after medical examination.

Masari said the government would increase security personnel in the schools to avert a re-occurrence.

“We have protected and secured all our schools. We are going to increase the number of security operatives in our schools to make sure that we don’t experience what we have experienced in the past six days. We want to encourage communities around those schools to form another security unit around the schools,” he said.
