A Councilor representing Sabon Gari electoral ward of the Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Honorable Awal Abdullahi Okawo met his Waterloo as ward electorates during the distribution of the third phase of palliative was lynched him at the venue of the sharing of Rice.
The Councilor, it would be recalled, was accused of sharing Rice with family, friends, and relatives, according to the people of Sabon Gari who spoke to Universal Reporters affirmed that he did not carry all and sundry along
He was rescued from the protesting beneficiaries at the Local Government Secretariat gave him a security cover and was whisked away to a safer place.
A vast number of the beneficiaries who spoke to Universal Reporters confided that they were not given N5000 attached to the 7.5 kg of Rice.
It was gathered that Councilors were given 80 slots of beneficiaries each while lawmakers at the State level had 10 slots, Council Chairmen were allocated 5 slots and Local Government appointees were given 2 each.
The majority of the beneficiaries alleged that they only benefited from the 7.5kg of Rice and were denied N5000 as promised by the custodian of the palliative, The Honorable Commissioner of Humanitarian, Special Duties and Non-Governmental Organization, Margaret Itake Elayo.
All efforts to speak to the Commissioner proved abortive. The Councilor could be reached for comment at press time.
