Public Primary school teachers in Nasarawa State have been warned to take their work seriously or face severe sanctions by the authority.
The Executive Chairman Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board Dr, Kassim Muhammad Kassim handed down the warning in a statement issued to all Education Secretaries of Local Government and Development Education Authorities in the State and copied to the Information, Public Relations, and Protocol Unit of the Board.
Dr Kassim Muhammad Kassim, lamented the situation whereby teachers in the school did not prepare lesson notes but engaged in activities such as breaking melons and cultivating crops during school hours and wondered how meaningful and effective teaching can take place, adding that activities related to teaching and learning during school hours are strictly prohibited.
Dr Kassim Muhammad Kassim, said teachers must maintain professionalism at all times. Noting that engaging in personal agricultural activities during school hours is inappropriate and must cease immediately.
The Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Executive Chairman, advised the teachers to live up to expectations so that the children can emulate them. “The primary focus must remain on pupils’ learning.
Urging that teachers should be present and actively involved in classroom instruction and school activities, not melon-breaking activities, he buttressed.
He assured that the Board will not relent in its efforts towards the implementation of the Government’s lauderdale policies towards the upliftment of primary education in Nasarawa State.
The Executive Chairman, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Kassim Muhammad Kassim, equally assured parents, guardians, and teachers that the Present administration of Engineer Abdullahi Sule is vowing to uplift the standard of education in the State.
The Executive Chairman, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Kassim Muhammad Kassim, directed all Head-Teachers to ensure that the directives are strictly complied with, and anyone found neglecting their duties will face disciplinary action.
