…I didn’t apply for the position of Rector
The Acting Rector, of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, has said he will use the sly opportunity as the headship of the institution to ensure that the inactive Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic is not just active but very active.
Dr. Obarakpo James Samuel gave the hint during a chat with newsmen at the Polytechnic, stating that he will work side by side with the Academic Staff Union to foster the pace of development in the Polytechnic.
He state that he did not apply for the job of Rector, and rathe the task given to him was a result of his position as the deputy Rector.
“I didn’t apply for the vacant seat of Rector due to a reason, Age-wise, I can’t contest for the exalted seat, Said the Acting Rector.
He explained that he was a child of circumstance occupying the headship of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa.
He gave the assurance that he will beam his searchlight on issues bordering the Polytechnic currently as the task ahead of him not minding how many days he will spend in office but he wants to leave an indelible mark in the sands of time by working closely with ASUP.
Saying,” I’m not a novice in the system, especially in Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa were I served and still serving up to the rank of deputy Rector.
He promised to chip in his wealth of experience in that regard to move the institution to an enviable position.
“As an insider,I will build upon the existing achievements recorded by my predecessor” He added.
The Rector appealed to all members of the management team and staff of the institution to accord him their maximum cooperation to achieve within the shortest possible time.
He also urged the students of the Polytechnic to face their studies instead of roaming the streets of Nasarawa or being caught in any social vices that may lead to their withdrawal.
“We in the Polytechnic are already established in terms of dressing code, Saying the institution has a standing committee on indecent dressing checkmating such”,
Speaking on the activities of cultism The Rector said the then management of the institution has done a marvelous work to end cultism in the Polytechnic.
“Mine is just to sustain the legacies bequeath the institution,” He added
An available source from the Federal Polytechnic revealed to Journalists that the immediate Past Rector, Dr. Alhassan did not hand over some top-secret documents to his successor who just assumed office recently.
It was however gathered that the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa has a budget of N6.45bn for the year 2024, Which is less than the 2024 budget of the Federal Polytechnic in the country
