9 Gombe Government Officials Test Positive For COVID-19

The Task Force Committee on COVID-19 in Gombe said that out of 609 samples that were taken for test 9 turned out positive.

Chairman of the committee Prof. Idris Mohammed stated this yesterday in Gombe while briefing Journalists on the update of the virus in the state.

Prof. Mohammed revealed that the 9 persons whom their samples turned out to be positive are government officials.

He said government officials who were tested positive include 5 members of Gombe state House of Assembly, 3 commissioners, and 1 Special Adviser to the governor.

According to him, Gombe so far has recorded 2,651 cases in line with 10 deaths since the pandemic erupt the state.

He lamented the increase of the virus in communities which he said something urgent has to be done to avoid the mass spread of the disease.

While speaking further he said, he said there are 58 Almajirai at Amada quarantine center which according to him, 11 of the Almajirai were intercepted at the border while the remaining were brought from Adamawa state.

He said the task force is working tirelessly to ensure that communities within the 11 local government areas are sensitized about the virus.

The chairman who advised the public said they should not hesitate to avail themselves before the committee for testing insisted that doing so will help in reducing the menace in society.

He appealed to Government specifically the federal government to pay attention to local research to enhance positive results in the fight against the disease.

Prof. Mohammed while calling on the government to support the committee with funds said nothing is left in their covers as more cases are increasing he said.
