86 Violators Of Sanitation Law Prosecuted In Nasarawa State

The Chief prosecutor from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has affirmed that 86 sanitation offenders were prosecuted.

The Chief Environmental Officer of the state, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed, made this known while briefing newsmen after the monthly environmental sanitation in Lafia.

Alhaji Abubakar said the proactive measure taken become imperative following the recent prediction of possible flash flooding in 25 states, including Nasarawa  by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMeT

He disclosed that the state government had mapped out areas across the state

He gave the hint during a press briefing shortly after this month’s sanitation exercise held at the ministry’s headquarters.

Saying there is 80 percent compliance, adding that almost 98 percent of shops were locked as well as less vehicular movement across the State.

The Chief Sanitation officer attributed the sly improvement in the level of compliance in the exercise to be unconnected to the reappointment of the immediate past Commissioner, Hon.Yakubu Kwanta Boha, a no-nonsense man.

According to him, “Our operation pick letter” is still effective.

He however averred that the Ministry is working relentlessly in creating awareness and sensitization campaign on the reason why people leaving within the bank of river Benue/Niger.

“Our plan is to start evacuating people from the bank of the river to a safer place.

The Chief prosecutor warned on land developers in the State to shun building on  water ways or face the full wrath of the law
