The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 73 suspects during a joint security operation targeting criminal hideouts and black spots in Mubi and nearby communities.
In a statement issued on May 6, Yahaya Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer, said the operation was carried out alongside other security agencies following complaints from residents and intelligence reports on rising criminal activities in the area.
According to the police, security operatives raided identified criminal hideouts, leading to the arrest of suspects linked to offences such as drug-related crimes, house-to-house robbery and other violent activities.
Kabir Umar Hassan, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, described the operation as the commands commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He noted that the crackdown is part of ongoing proactive efforts to ensure no part of Adamawa becomes a safe haven for criminal elements.
The police command also commended residents and partner security agencies for their cooperation and support, urging members of the public to continue providing timely and useful information to aid effective policing.
Authorities added that the suspects are currently undergoing screening and investigation, after which those found culpable will be charged in court in accordance with the law.
