At least, about 165 houses were destroyed as a result of heavy rainfall in Musari Village of Guri local government area in Jigawa state and rendered hundreds of residents homeless.
According to a press statement signed by Sanusi Doro , the spokesman of the local government he said that some of the victims were taking refuge at the schools, houses of relations of some good Samaritans, while others were left with no alternatives.
The release added that one person was seriously wounded and is receiving treatment at Hadejia General hospital as he was trapped by houses which collapsed as a result of the torrential rainfall.
The village head of Musari Abdullahi maitumbi and one Ramatu Yahaya have appealed to Giri local government and the Jigawa state government as well a the National Emergency Management Agency [NEMA] to as a matter of urgency come the aid of the victims with a view to cushion their plight.
Ramatu Yahaya added that they have nowhere to put their heads, no food and no clothes to wear , the release said that Guri local government has sent a delegation under the leadership of secretary of the council Muhammad Hassan Abi and director personnel management Alhaji Ado Sani Abuabakr to sympathize with the victims.
The leader of the delegation Mohammad Hassan assured the victims that the local government will soon come to their aid adding that culverts and drainages will be constructed in order to solve the problem of flooding in the village. In his remarks, the district head of Kadira ,Danruwatan Hadejia Alhaji A bdulkadir Muhammd expressed sympathy with people of the village overt the calamity on behalf of the Hadeja Emirate Council.
