50 Cassava Farmers Receive Training In Jigawa

No fewer than fifty cassava farmers in Jigawa state, have received training from, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS), in collaboration with Jigawa Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (JARDA).

The 50 participants involved extension workers and farmers trained in Climate Resident Practice on Cassava production in the State.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the training held on Friday at the manpower development institute Dutse, the Jigawa state Commissioner of Agriculture Alhaji Muttaqa Namadi who was represented by the Managing Director Jigawa Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (JARDA) Alhaji Imam Muhammad said, the purpose of the training is to support cassava farmers with technical backstopping in order to improve the production.

He added that the training will also help in addressing issues related to food security, alleviating poverty, and income generation at both state and national levels.

According to him, the training will give more light to extension workers and farmers on how to double their production, particularly in cassava farming activities.

The MD then urged the participants to listen and understand the lectures as well as to apply and step down the skills and knowledge acquired during the training to improve their productivity.

While making his remarks, the Hon. Minister of Agriculture Alhaji Abubakar Kyari who was represented by the State Director of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS), assured more support to the farmers through training and retraining of both extension workers and farmers to achieve sustainable development of Agriculture in the country.

He maintained that, after the training, participants were supported with an empowerment package of fertilizer and agrochemicals.
