39,000 Farmers In 19 LGAs In Jigawa To Receive FG’s Agric Support

The Jigawa State government said last year 19 local government Areas had serious flood disasters which destroyed millions of farm produce as well as public properties.

This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary State Emergency Management Agency SEMA Malam Sani Yusif Babura in an interview with our reporter in his office.

Yusif said on their record they have a total number of 39,000 people who were affected by last year’s flood in 19 local government areas in the state.

He thanked the federal government for bringing food items support to the victims, the items include sorghum basket, Rice basket, and Maize basket as well as agrochemical, sprayers and hybrid seedlings, water pumps machines.

He also stated that he is happy that there was no flood during this year’s rainy season, but expressed his sadness for the farmers’ loss as a result of drought.

He called on the state and federal government to come to the aids of farmers in the state because, as he observed the early stop of rains will greatly affect farm produces.
