3 Soldiers Injured In Yobe Suicide Bomb Explosion
A suicide bomber detonated an explosive yesterday, killing himself and wounding three soldiers and two civilians in Katarko town, Gujba LGA of Yobe State.
Spokesman of the 27 Taskforce Brigade in Damaturu said three soldiers who went to the bomber who disguised as a welder to weld a signal antenna were hit by the explosive.
“After the fabricator noticed that a vigilante member attached to our troops identified him, he quickly detonated the explosive, killing himself and wounding five others: three soldiers and two civilians,” he said.
He said the injured were taken to hospital for treatment “They are all responding well to the treatment” he added
He said another person suspected to be connected with the bomber had been arrested in Damagun town.
Residents told our correspondent that the explosion went off around 12:45 pm after the soldiers brought a cylinder to the man to fix at Ari kolo area in Katarko.
The civilians hit by the explosive were identified as Ado Driver, Modu Bakulle Malam Yurai and 10-year -old Adamu Modu.
Sources from Sani Abatcha Specialist Hospital Damaturu said one of them later died in the hospital while others were responding well to treatment.
