Three Nasarawa State athletes will be wearing Nigeria’s colors at the forthcoming 13th edition of the African Games scheduled for Accra, Ghana, between 8th-23rd  March 2024.

The representatives are Coach Lois Jerry-tutored Taekwondon, Louisa Ladi Ihuo (female), and the duo of Coach Kingsley Enyie-tutored Chioma Ani (female) and Saidu Ahmed(male) in the Karate sport events.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Barr. Isaac Danladi, congratulate the representatives of the State on behalf of the State Government.

“Described the unfolding as a good development for Nasarawa State because it’s never easy to be picked from a pool of numerous athletes from across the country to represent the Nation at a high-level competition like the African Games.

Wishing the athletes and team Nigeria a grade ‘A’ performance at the games and urged them to be good ambassadors of the State.

Stating that the Government of Governor Abdullahi Sule will continue to fund sporting activities in the State for optimal performance.”

The African Games is a continental multi-sport event held every four years, and it is organized by the African Union with the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, ANOCA, and the Association of African Sports Confederations, AASC.

Fifty-four African Countries, including Nigeria, will be participating in the quadrennial event.

The City of Rabat, Morocco, hosted the last edition in 2019.
