Why 24 Members Of Plateau Assembly Cannot Visit Their Constituencies Under Governor Lalong APC Government —Hon Ahile

Yakubu Busari

Twenty four Members of Plateau State House Assembly have abandoned their constituencies as they have spent two years without a single constituency project under the All Progressive Congress ( APC)  Government of Governor Lalong.

The Member Representing Rukuba /irigwe in plateau State House of Assembly, Hon Simon Kudu Ahile raised the alarm that since they were sworn-in, they cannot visit their people at the grassroots owing to the critical situation of poor funding and non-remittances of constituency allowance to them.

He complained that the 2017 fertilizer farming season was distributed only to All Progressive Congress (APC) supporters in his constituency at the rate of eight to Ten thousand naira, as many famers were not able to get it due to the high price.

He disclosed this during an interview with our correspondent on Monday at the Plateau State House of Assembly complex.

Hon Ahile accused the APC of lopsided sharing of fertilizer which were not available for the opposition PDP in his constituency; he said the people on ground complained bitterly to me that they can’t access the fertilizer which was hoarded by the ruling party.

The Member lamented that the change government has not done anyone good because the current price of local foods is so expensive as an essential commodities now, families find it very difficult to feed their love ones.

Hon Simon Ahile blamed the hike in price of goods to in ability of government to have policy that will accommodate the less privilege in the society, they can’t afford to pay hospital bills and their children school fees forcing them to withdraw them.

“I want to challenge the APC government in the whole country they are not doing anything to end the suffering of masses rather they continue to focus on more issues that can divide us as Nigerians, I am calling APC to bring in positive change,” he added.

According to him the last administration of former Governor Jonah David Jang has purchased over 200 tractors for Plateau farmers but worst is APC as no fertilizers and no assistance to farmers.

He stressed that the 8th Assembly members of the PLHA experience in two years has not been too good and is not too bad either, “the challenges facing us as legislatures is to make laws and do oversight function and attend to our constituency.”

“We have passed so many bills ,12 bills to be precise which governor Lalong has accented into law and have also passed other resolutions to better our people ,I have many bills to present,  such as the bill to regulate the consumption of dangerous illicit drink popularly called ,” Goskolo”.

He condemned the way they produced and package it for human consumption which had passed into second and third reading, I have been working on the final finishing touches of the bill.

The bill on HIV/AIDS discrimination and protection right was recently accented and brought as fresh bill to address the plight of those infected people who need care including the individual stigmatization due to ignorance.
